On August 17, 2006, The Palm Bay City Council (Florida) had a Second
Reading (final vote) on the Unlawful Business Practices ordinance 2006-80.
The ordinance, created and introduced by Councilmember Andy Anderson,
passed the First Reading 4-1. This ordinance was expected to become the
national model where cities would be able to locally enforce immigration laws.

The Unlawful Business Practices ordinance is a business regulation ordinance
requiring licensees to hire only legal employees. The ordinance would prohibit
unauthorized workers including minors, convicted sex offenders, convicted
felons and illegal aliens. (READ THE ORDINANCE)

The 4-1 favorable vote August 3, 2006 changed to a 2-3 loss on August 17,
2006 (Councilmembers Anderson and Geier supporting the ordinance). There
can be no doubt the outcome was greatly influenced by the pro illegal
    immigration special interest groups.

With a  wide range of overwhelming citizen support, The Silent Majority of
Florida was established to collect petitions to establish a special election in
order to adopt the Unlawful Business Practice Ordinance.

A year later, the Silent Majority decided to expand our scope based on other
issues that could benefit the entire county of Brevard. The final goal is to
force local Government in Brevard County to become more responsive to
voters and to bring ethical standards back to all levels of Government.
